Frontmost privacy policy
Last updated: 9 October 2026
Frontmost is a task app for iPhone. It has no server, no accounts, no analytics, no ads and no tracking. We never see your tasks, and we collect nothing about you.

Where your tasks live
Your tasks, folders and settings are kept on your phone, inside the app. Like the rest of your phone, they are part of your phone's backup (iCloud Backup or your computer), if you have one turned on.
When sync arrives, it will use Apple's iCloud (CloudKit), in your own private iCloud space, tied to your Apple Account. We will not be able to read it. This page will say so the day it ships.
Deleting the app deletes what it keeps on your phone.
What Frontmost reads, and only when you ask
Each of these asks for your permission first, and you can turn it off at any time in the phone's Settings.
- Microphone and speech. When you tap the mic, Frontmost turns what you say into words. It uses Apple's speech recognition on your phone. Where your phone or language can't do that on the phone, Apple's speech recognition may send the audio to Apple to turn it into words, under Apple's privacy policy. Frontmost keeps no recording.
- Camera. The camera screen reads the words of a paper list into tasks, on your phone. No picture is kept.
- Photos. Frontmost shows your recent photos so you can tap one and read its words into tasks, on your phone. Nothing is kept, and nothing in your library is changed. A photo that lives in iCloud Photos is first brought down from your iCloud by your phone.
- Reminders. When you bring your reminders in, Frontmost reads your open reminders once and makes them tasks. Nothing in Reminders changes.
- Calendar. If you turn it on, Frontmost puts your dated tasks in a calendar named "Frontmost" and keeps it up to date. That calendar sits in the same account as your default calendar, usually iCloud. If your default calendar is with another provider, such as Google or Microsoft, that provider will hold those events, under its own policy. Delete the "Frontmost" calendar in the Calendar app to remove them.
- Face ID. If you lock your list, the phone checks your face or passcode. Frontmost only hears yes or no.
- Files. When you bring tasks in from another app, Frontmost reads the file you pick, on your phone.
What stays on your phone
- Notifications. Reminders for your tasks are scheduled on the phone itself. They can show a task's words on your Lock Screen, as your notification settings allow.
- Search, Siri and Shortcuts. Your open tasks are added to the phone's own search, and Siri and Shortcuts can find them. This index stays on your phone, and is emptied while your list is locked.
- The on-phone AI. Sorting what you said into tasks, and tidying a note, uses Apple's model on your phone, where your phone has it.
What you choose to send
Nothing leaves Frontmost unless you send it.
- Your AI. When you tap
[AI], the task (its words, and the context, steps and dates you see) is copied to your clipboard and the AI app or site you chose opens, often with the task already in its box. From then on, it is with that app or site and its own privacy policy, on your own account there. Frontmost has no part in it. - Sharing. When you send a folder, export your tasks or share your year, the phone's share sheet passes it to the app you pick.
- Writing to us. "write to us" in Settings opens your mail app with the app's version, your phone's model and its iOS version filled in. You see all of it, and nothing is sent unless you send the mail. We use your mail only to answer it.
Purchases
Unlimited is bought through Apple's App Store. Apple handles the payment; we never see your card or your Apple Account. Frontmost only learns from the App Store whether unlimited is active, and keeps that answer on your phone.
Apple
Frontmost runs on Apple's software, and some of it (iCloud, speech recognition where it can't run on the phone, the App Store, crash reports you chose to share with app developers) is covered by Apple's privacy policy, not this one.
Children
Frontmost collects nothing from anyone, children included.
Changes
If this changes, for example when sync arrives, this page changes first, with a new date at the top.
